Katalin Varga, directed by Peter Strickland and produced by Tudor and Oana Giurgiu, won the European Film Academy's award as European Discovery 2009.

A Romanian/UK/Hungarian co-production, Katalin Varga has also had 3 nominations at this year's British Independent Film Awards (Best Achievement in Production, Peter Strickland for Douglas Hickox Award and Hilda Peter for Most Promising Newcomer).
