Kino Caravan- awarded at the Baltic Event
The Producers Network awarded "Kino Caravan" with the Best Pitch Award, including free accreditation to the Producers Network in Cannes in 2008. The announcement was made during the third annual Baltic Event co-production market, in Tallinn. A total of 12 projects were presented to 50 experts from production, distribution, sales companies and festival representatives from across Europe. The projects came from Estonia, Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, Latvia, Russia, Finland. Croatia and Armenia. Four awards were handed out, the organizers said in a statement on Dec 5th. EastWest Distribution gave Liisa Penttilä with the Finnish project Blackouts the Best Pitch Award for 2007 with a prize of €3,000 available for script doctoring at the Binger Institute. The Producers Network also awarded the Armenian project The Last Two Tightrope Dancers In Armenia, presented by Inna Sahakyan, with the Best Pitch Award, The Nordic-Baltic Film Fund awarded a prize of €4,000 for the best project to the Estonian project The Temptations of St. Tony presented by Katrin Kissa. Estonian youth showed their own initiative and presented an award to the most youth-friendly person in Estonia this year. The award went to director Ilmar Raag for his work with young people on the film The Class (Amrion, 2007). The young people explained that Raag's work shows that cinema can be accessible and important in their world as well. The Baltic Event co-production market accepts full-length feature projects in development from Scandinavia, the Baltics, Russia and the new EU member countries. This year 40 projects applied for the market.
