The leading actress from Katalin Varga, Hilda Peter, won Best Performance Award at the 7th edition of the Brussels Film Festival that took place from June 27th till July 5th. The members of the jury agreed that “Hilda Péter’s acting performance portrays a complexity of emotions, without forcing herself onto the character of letting the character take of her. Actress and film become one in an original and excellent way, without forcing the viewer to regard the acting performance from an ironic point of view, but inviting the viewer to just enjoy what is there. Hilda Péter shows an extraordinary spirited content, that makes the viewer enjoy it, for days.” The award was received by the director Peter Strickland, during the closing gala, on July 5th. Hilda Peter is actress at the Hungarian Theatre in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. She is the winner of the 2006 Uniter Award and Critics Award (both in Romania and Hungary) for best supporting role- Lucky from Waiting for Godot, directed by Tompa Gabor.
