The Kino Caravan won a development grant
The "Kino Caravan" won a development grant of 5000 euro, offered by South-East European (SEE) Cinema Network, at the general meeting held during the Salonic Film Festival, the 48th edition (November 17-26). The "Kino Caravan" is the second feature film of director Titus Muntean, after Exam, a political thriller considered one of the most powerful Romanian debut films in 2004. The movie tells the story of a young man that tries to discover the reason for which he was convicted to jail, without being guilty. The Kino Caravan is the screening of the novel with the same title, written in 1985 by Ioan Grosan. The action takes place in Romania, in the early 60’s. An old truck transformed into a Kino Caravan is visiting a remote, isolated mountain village from Transylvannia as to screen Russian propaganda films. It’s the first official propaganda job for our young hero(Tavi) and he’s trying his best to fulfill it. The film project was invited to the Centeast Market, a specialised market for films, held during the 22nd Warsaw International Film Festival ( October 17-21), and also to Crossroads, a programme dedicated to future European projects, organised during the Salonic Film Festival. The Kino Caravan was also invited to Baltic Event Co-production market (December 3-4), during the Tallinn Film Festival. The Market is open for the projects from the Baltic countries, Central and Eastern Europe, Russia and Scandinavia. The shooting of the Kino Caravan starts in 2008.
